Hi and thanks for opening this video so I have an opportunity to talk to you about our TCLA Enrichment program. I’m Virginia McDonald the owner and curriculum developer of TCLA Enrichment.

For those of you who don’t know my background I taught the gifted and talented program for 27 years at Marlboro Elementary School and owned a private preschool Turtle Creek Learning Academy and TCLA Enrichment Center for 25 years. I recently sold the preschool but will be holding after school enrichment classes at the preschool site at 10 Railroad Ave. in Marlboro.

I continue to be so passionate about our enrichment classes more so now than ever. I rewrote all the curriculum to offer more support to our students especially in terms of writing and deep analysis of text. I’ve continue to work with students the past several years and have found that the time students attended virtual classes during Covid eroded many of their skills especially in writing. Even the best students I teach seem to be at least a year behind in benchmarks.

Our enrichment classes focus on the literary skills with an emphasis on the reading writing and vocabulary development. Engaging short stories and books centered on the theme of fairness and justice are used throughout our 10 week winter session. I’ve specifically selected these texts as a springboard for an accompanying writing assignment and for deeper text analysis.

The five teachers who teach the enrichment program have at least 20 years of teaching experience and they know how to support each student in our small group session. They are master teachers who teach the curriculum I wrote and designed specifically for students in this area.

Our 10 week winter session starts on Monday, January 23. The deadline for registering is January 13th.
